A Verse

Luke 5:13

Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” And immediately the leprosy left him.

A Comment

The man that Jesus touched had likely not been touched by others for years, except for maybe the touch of another leper. He was an outcast because of his disease. He was expected to announce his presence with a cry of “unclean.” Yet, Jesus did not depart from the unclean man. With a touch, Jesus cleansed the man of the disease that held him captive for so long. With just one touch, the man was cleansed. This is true for us as well. No matter how unclean we feel that we are, just one encounter with Jesus will cleanse us. Hear his call this morning, “Be clean!”

A Prayer

O’ LORD, do not let our uncleanness keep us from coming to You. Jesus came into the world to save sinners. To clean the unclean. You do not desire for us to wallow in our sin and rebellion You desire our freedom and restoration. Grant us to hear the call to be made clean today! For You are faithful and just to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

A Blessing

The Lord will keep you from all evil;
He will keep your life.
The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore.
