Does God Ever Think of Me?

A Verse, A Comment, A Prayer, A Blessing (2/2/2023)

A Verse

Psalm 8:3-4

When I consider your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,
what is mankind that you are mindful of them,
human beings that you care for them?

Psalm 8 is an evening meditation of David wherein he reflects on the greatness of God in creation while also considering how the Creator cares for him and the rest of humanity. As we look at verses 3-4, we note this contrast between David’s thoughts of God’s work in the heavens versus God’s mindfulness of humanity.

It is staggering and sobering thought that the Creator and Sustainer of all things is mindful of us. He watches over us. He cares for us. All while upholding the universe by the word of His power. The LORD never misses the slightest detail in our lives. While He is the God above all, He is also the God who is near to us, near to those who call upon His name.

As you reflect on God’s works today, keep in mind that you are on God’s mind. His thoughts toward you are innumerable. Praise Him for this reality as David did in the evening. Give Him glory for His greatness and His nearness.

A Prayer

Would you pray with me?

A Blessing

The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace.
