A Verse
Ephesians 1:2
Grace and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
A Comment
God our Father. We tend to pass over such phrases because they are familiar to us, but when we do so, we miss a depth of riches. God our Father loves and cares for us. He sustains us. He protects us. We are His children. Yet, He was Father before us, for all eternity, in the perfect fellowship of the Trinity with the Son and the Holy Spirit. So, while the Father’s existence is not contingent upon His relationship to us, in His mercy, He relates to us as His children, showering us with grace and peace, having made us His own through adoption in Christ. Hallelujah!
A Prayer
O’ God, You are greater than we can imagine, yet You chose to reveal Yourself to us. Thank you for who You are. Grant us to grow in this grace of knowing You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
