A Verse
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
A Comment
Each command that went before the final clause of these verses pointed to our joy, confidence, and thankfulness in both good times and bad times. It was and is God’s will for us to not only obey these commands but to experience these feelings. He cares about our joy. He desires us to be confident in Him. He wants us to truly be thankful. And these are not burdens to bear but blessings that He intends for us to enjoy as we place our trust in Him through Jesus.
A Prayer
O’ Lord, help me to see Your will in my life in Christ Jesus. Let nothing else dictate my ideas of what You desire for me apart from Jesus. Your will is good. Grant me to receive it as the blessing that it is! In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Oh may this bounteous God through all your life be near you,
with ever joyful hearts and blessed peace to cheer you;
and keep you in His grace,
and guide you when perplexed,
and free you from all ills in this world and the next. Amen.
