A Verse
Psalm 149:4
For the LORD takes delight in his people;
he crowns the humble with victory.

This morning’s passage somewhat resembles yesterday’s passage regarding the people in whom the LORD takes delight. We are reminded again that it is not just a matter of what we do as the LORD’s people but also how we do them. In today’s passage, the stress is on our humility.
I like what C. S. Lewis said about true humility in his book Mere Christianity. Lewis wrote, “Humility is not thinking less of yourself, but thinking of yourself less.” Humility is not a degrading of the self in one’s eyes but an elevation of the LORD instead.
As we make our way through this week, let us aim at walking in humility, thinking of ourselves less and thinking more of the LORD.
