A Verse
Ephesians 1:18-19a
I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe.
A Comment
Paul wants His audience to know the power of God that is at work in them. It is Christ’s resurrection power that is at work within us and for us. And not only that, as Christ reigns, He is reigning for the benefit of the church. Christ’s kingship is centered on His glory for the church’s good!
How do you measure the power of the resurrection? Is there any power greater than being raised from the dead, incorruptible with immortality forever? Is there any ruler reigning anywhere at any time who has ever been as highly exalted and as powerful as the risen Christ? And how about the fact that Christ exercises His sovereignty, that is, His kingship, over all things until the last thing is put into subjection under His feet, and he does so for the glory of His name and the good of His church?
A Prayer
O’ King Jesus, You are great and greatly to be praised. And Your greatness is unsearchable! In Your great power, help us in our weakness and need. For the sake of Your glory and our good. In Your name, Amen.
