A Verse
Psalm 1:1-2
Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
or sit in the company of mockers,
but whose delight is in the law of the LORD,
and who meditates on His law day and night.
A Comment
The blessed life is not one of unrestrained freedom to live out the wicked desires of our flesh. No. The blessed life is the one that mediates on and embraces the liberating law of the LORD which guides us away from the desires of our flesh and to the abundant provision of God’s mercy and grace in Christ Jesus.
A Prayer
O’ LORD, in your grace, let us see that your law is love and your gospel is peace. Your prohibitions and admonitions are aimed at our good and Your glory. No good thing will you withhold from Your people. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
A Blessing
May the Lord hide you in His shelter in the day of trouble,
conceal you under the cover of His tent,
may He set you high upon a rock. Amen.
