How to Wait for the LORD

A Verse

Psalm 5:3

In the morning, LORD, you hear my voice;
in the morning I lay my request before you and wait expectantly.

This morning’s meditation is short and simple. When we “lay our requests” before the LORD, we must “wait expectantly.” This does not meet that we wait with presumption, but rather, we wait with an expectation that is rooted in God’s character and power.

God reveals Himself as both our Father and our creator. He is near to us with a fatherly affection but also almighty, possessing all power at His disposal to meet us in our time of need. We do not bring our requests to someone who is unwilling to hear them, nor do we bring our requests to someone who is willing to hear them but unable to answer them. Instead, we bring our request before our powerful Father.

Because of who God is and what He is able to do, we can bring our requests before Him with expectations that He will answer in the best way for our good and His glory.

A Prayer

Would you pray with me?

A Blessing

May the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
