A Verse
Proverbs 27:1
Do not boast about tomorrow,
for you do not know what a day may bring.
A Comment
Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.” As it is, you boast in your arrogant schemes. All such boasting is evil. (James 4:13-16)
A Prayer
O’ LORD, teach us to number our days, placing our hope in you, and not the things of this world. Grant us to find refuge in Christ alone. Amen.
A Blessing
Now may He who is able to keep us from stumbling and present us before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy grant us to be strengthened by His grace for the sake of His glory, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.
