Isaiah 64:1
Oh, that You would rend the heavens and come down, that the mountains would tremble before you!
A Comment
To ask God to show up is to ask God to disrupt our life. When God comes, mountains tremble before Him. Our tendency is to ask God to come along with us in what we have already proposed instead of asking God to show up and power and disrupt us if need be. If we long for God to bring revival and awakening in our lives and in our communities, then we must submit to the fact that things will likely tremble in ways that we could not anticipate. And that is a good thing.
A Prayer
O’ LORD, in Christ, You came to us. Now, through the Spirit, You live in us. LORD, grant us to know Your presence. Through Your Word, revive us. Through Your Gospel, awaken our communities with new life. Cause the settled things in our life to tremble before You. Make your presence known. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
