Praying for Glory

A Verse, A Comment, A Prayer, A Blessing (10/17/2022)

A Verse

Ephesians 3:20-21

Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

A Comment

Paul is praying for the benefit of the church for the sake of the glory of God, and in his mind, these things are not a contradiction.

It is not a contradiction to pray that God would be glorified and to pray that God would do good for His people.

It is not a contradiction to ask God to fill us with the power of His Spirit, the presence of His Son, and the knowledge of His love for the sake of His glory because when God answers these prayers for our filling with power, presence, and knowledge, He manifests, that is, he makes known, He glorifies his ability to empower us, to encourage us, to bless us.

A Prayer

Would you pray with me?

A Blessing

The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace.
