The Implications of God's Grace (Part 1)

A Verse, A Comment, A Prayer, A Blessing (6/6/2022)

A Verse

Ephesians 2:8-10

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

A Comment

Of all people on the planet, Christians should be the most humble. If we really get it, if we understand the dire nature of our situation apart from God and have a clear picture of the grace that He has lavished upon us in Christ, we would not boast.

We would be humble. We would not think so highly of ourselves. We would not walk around like we are entitled to a good life because we have worked hard, paid our dues, and been upstanding citizens.

We would realize that anything good that we have experienced in life is directly related to the grace of God. We would pray with a growing consciousness of our need for God. And we would thank God for His grace.

A Prayer

When was the last time you stopped to thank God for His grace? Join in my prayer now as we thank Him.

A Blessing

Now may the Lord, who is merciful and gracious,
slow to anger, and rich in steadfast love and mercy,
keep you from despair in all your troubles and keep you from idolatry in all your joys. Amen.
