A Verse
Ephesians 1:18
“I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people.”
A Comment
God intends for his people to know and reflect on our inheritance as his children in Christ. This is what Paul prays for the church in Ephesus in this morning’s passage. That we might know the “riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people.”
We have been guaranteed an inheritance through Christ. This is what the first chapter in Ephesians is all about. Through faith, having been united to Christ and sealed by the promised Holy Spirit, we possess an eternal inheritance that cannot be shaken. This inheritance includes forgiveness, eternal life, new bodies in the resurrection on the day of Christ Jesus, a new heavens and a new earth, freedom from evil, and an eternal dwelling place in the presence of God.
All of these blessings have been secured for the believer through Christ. And it is in Christ that we hope. Paul wants us to know this hope. To be reminded of this hope. To not lose hope, but rest assured that God is faithful and will fulfill his promises.

Will you pray with me?
A Blessing
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
